Remembering Mothers

Welcome my friend, come on in & join me in a cuppa, today I have a special spread for us to remember our Mums.

I have baked some goodies for us & have a selection of teas, coffee & Hot Chocolate for you to choose from laid upon my dining room table overlooking our colourful Autumn garden.

Goodies like Pikelets with Jam & cream, mini Apple & Blueberry muffins, Macaroons, tiny Bacon & Cheese tarts to munch upon.

I’ve chosen a mug of Vanilla Chai Latté & a savoury tart first. What have you chosen?

Remembering

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can rejoice in the days to come. Her children arise and call her blessed…” Proverbs 31:25, 28 KJV

Mother’s Day is always a day of mixed emotions for many. Some enjoy being able to be spoilt & spend time with their children whether adults or younger.

While for others it’s a day of sadness for those who have lost children to death or estrangement & then others whose greatest desire was Motherhood but it never eventuated.

Then there are our own Mothers to honour or maybe now only to remember.

For me personally Mother’s day is always a day of mixed emotions, joy in being able to spend time with my daughters whether in person or through technology (two live interstate). But in the wee hours of each Mother’s Day, just on dawn, there’s always a time of reflection of what might have been with my third born daughter Candy & my only son Benjamin who both passed away many years ago at birth.

Then there’s the memory of my own mother who is now enjoying Eternity with her Saviour. Where I’m sure the Lord has a heavenly tea party going on within the magnificent gardens of Heaven for those who have gone before us in Christ Jesus.

Whatever your feelings are on the day, may you find encouragement in the following;

Mothering…

The Joy & Pain of Motherhood

A Mama’s Prayer…

And may you be comforted in knowing that God’s love & comfort is available to you today.

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. What a beautiful and heartfelt post, Jennifer. I’ll take a mini apple and blueberry muffin with my coffee while we chat! I love the picture you painted of a heavenly tea party in the gardens—that is such a comforting thought. You are so right that Mother’s Day can be such a mix of emotions, and I really appreciate you creating a space to honor all of them, especially the quiet reflections in those early dawn hours. Thank you for the reminder that His comfort is always there for us, no matter what we’re feeling. Sending hugs!

  2. Jennifer, I would love to join you for a Vanilla Chai Latté and a blueberry muffin dear friend! I enjoyed reading those previous posts again, dear one. I can’t begin to imagine the loss of 2 children at birth. May God wrap His loving arms around you as you remember those precious babies that are in His presence! My beloved Mother passed away 19 years ago and I will always miss her as I am sure you miss your mum. Happy Mother’s Day, sweet friend!

    Love and blessings,
    Pam

These are such lovely thoughts! And encouraging for those who have lost children or not yet had those dreams fulfilled. I’ll be traveling to my mom’s hometown for Mother’s Day this year! She passed 11 years ago, and it occurred to me that if I’d like to “see” her, I “see” her there! 🙂 I know she is happy in heaven, which gives me a lot of peace, even when I miss her.
