Exploring the meaning of Dreams

Welcome my friend! I thought we would explore the meaning of dreams today as I had rather an interesting dream last night.

But before we do let’s grab a mug of our favourite beverage, a treat & get comfy. Ready? Me too…

My Week

I must admit this week has gotten away on me. I did have another post half written & then realised it was Friday already! So I’ll leave that post for another time & we’ll concentrate on dreams & dreaming today.

If you get onto YouTube & search for the meaning of dreams & especially spiritual dreams you’ll get a plethora of videos with people giving all types of messages about what they believe they’re all about. In fact you will be overwhelmed by the number of videos out there on the subject.

However, I always refer back to the one truth we can rely upon & that is God’s Word. What does God say about dreams & the meaning of dreams?

I covered this in the following post;

Dreams, may be more important then you think!

And then on a different light with the word Dreaming, as in following your dreams I posted the following;

Dreams, are you living yours?

Both type of  Dreams are important, as sleeping dreams help the brain to clean & file the information from the days events. Where having dreams & goals for the future is good for our mental & emotional well being.

However, there is a different type of sleeping dream & that’s a spiritual dream (given by the Holy Spirit) & we’re told in scripture that these will play a very important role in the days leading up to the second coming of Jesus & we need to be alert for those;

” …I shall pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.”

Joel 2: 28 AMP

However, we also need the Holy Spirit’s discernment for Jesus told us that many false prophets will arise in the days before His return.

“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.”

Matthew 24:  11 NKJ

You may be wondering what my dream was about last night?

Well, when I sat & reflected upon it this morning, I realised my dream was an accumulation of the conversations I’d had, the programs I’d watched, the information I’d read & the recent event of my birthday. It was my brain cleaning & filing information in a dream that I found rather interesting.

Do you have interesting dreams my friend?

Until next time,

Jennifer

    Dreams are a funny thing. Even now, at my age, I still dream about my school years (yonks ago) and then also about our children and grandkids nowadays.
    Thank you for sharing and participating at SSPS 343. See you at #344

  2. My dreams are often all over the place. After my dad passed away, I had a few dreams that made me wake up sobbing. It happened quite a few times. It’s been a few years now, and I’ve experienced fewer of those. Thank you for sharing your post with us at the Crazy Little Lovebirds link party #71.

  3. Mine are usually set in a church, school, or camp setting with people I’ve known for my whole life who’ve never met each other mingling together. If I remember anything, I’ll pay attention to the emotions I’m experiencing in those dreams. Always interesting …

    Most nights I do not remember my dreams. The ones I do remember unfortunately are often nightmares due to something I have seen or heard on the news. Those I am grateful to forget 🙂

  5. Both my husband and I have had dreams that alerted us to be vigilant over situations or family members – one I turned into a children’s book. There are a hand full of dreams that I believe God has used to encourage me to not give up in challenges that I will walk through. Those dreams are precious gifts from God.

  6. i also have spiritual dreams sometimes, Jennifer. Usually I have found that if the name of the Lord is mentioned in my dream, I find that I need to pay attention. And those have been so important for my praying too. Thank you for always sharing such thought provoking and encouraging posts. Blessings to you, dear friend!

    1. Thank you for sharing Bettie, I found your following statement rather poignant;
      “Usually I have found that if the name of the Lord is mentioned in my dream, I find that I need to pay attention.”

      What a great way to realise a dream from the Holy Spirit! Blessings to you too sweet friend!

  7. Thank you, Jennifer! Dreams often cause me to awaken suddenly and can be disturbing. I went back and reread both posts and found them,as always, well written and encouraging! I look forward each week to sharing tea with you.

    Blessings sweet friend ❤️

    1. Thank you Pam, I enjoy our tea time together too sweet friend! 😊

      I’m sorry to hear that your dreams often awaken you suddenly & are disturbing, as it’s an unpleasant experience when dreams do that…🥺

  8. I have had many dreams over the years. Some have been simply crazy. Some have been nice but without real meaning. But I have also had many dreams from the Lord which have given us revelation concerning certain situations. As I am an intercessor in my church, this is often necessary so know how to pray for some circumstances. Some of these dreams take a while to interpret and I receive bits and pieces as I am praying and as I read the word and sometimes in the form of a brief vision that builds on the dream. It certainly makes life interesting. The Lord is so good to show us exactly what we need to see in order to carry on His ministry of prayer.
