Dreams, may be more important then you think!

Welcome my friend! Come on in, I have a cuppa ready for us with a treat!

I thought we would have a chat about Dreams today.

But first let’s get comfy with our Caramel Coffee & toasted slice of gf Ginger Date loaf with lashings of butter melting upon its deliciousness.

Now we’re comfy let’s begin…

Why do we Dream?

Medical Science & neuropsychology have many theories as to why we dream & what the purpose of dreaming does for us during our sleep cycles.

But most agree that it’s the brain’s way of filing information from the day’s activities.

As a mental health professional I find the process of dreaming absolutely fascinating!

As there are so many variations in how people dream.

Some people remember their dreams in great detail while others don’t (although we all dream), some dream in colour while others in black & white.

Some feel like they’re participating in the dream like a character in a movie, while others feel they are but observers of the scenarios unfolding before them.

Dreams of a different magnitude

But there are dreams that defy simple interpretation & explanation!

These are spiritual dreams

Some of which need much wisdom, prayer & discernment to understand.

I had one such dream many years ago which turned out to be very significant & poignant  indeed.

It prepared me for a significant event in my life, which I shared  HERE

dream text on green leaves

We are told in God’s Word that dreams will play a significant & important part in the coming events here on earth in the second coming of Jesus Christ, as they did in His first coming.

“…And it will come about after this that I will pour My Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions…”

Joel 2:28 Refer II

With recent & current world events heating up, we need to continue to be watchful & alert for the coming of the King of Kings (Jesus) with great discernment.

For we’re told that many false prophets will come & go but will be especially plentiful in the days leading up to His return.

And as we read in the book of Revelation when He does come, it will happen suddenly!

This is the revelation of Jesus Christ [His unveiling of the divine mysteries]. God gave it to Him to disclose & make known to His bond servants certain things which must shortly [in the Greek ‘shortly’ means rapidly & quickly] come to pass in their entirety…”

Revelation 1:1

However, He has given us certain indicators to look for as that time drawers near.

One is that God’s Spirit will be poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28), now we have witnessed this since Penticost (‘all flesh’ means available to all mankind), so we know we’re in the right time period.

There has been a great deal of prophesy in the time since Penticost.

But this particular prophecy (divine message) for His return will be pertinent to the Coming of the King & be delivered by both the sons & daughters (believers) of God.

Now the dreams that are being spoken of as indicators of Jesus return will be significant indeed

Just as the dreams that Joseph received from God in Matthew 1: 20-24 & Matthew 2: 13-14 were, these too will be just as significant.

There will be many signs that, if we have discernment, will tell us Jesus is about to return.

These signs are given throughout the Bible. Too many to share here in our time together today.

But one of those signs will be ‘Your old men will dream dreams’, so may we stay alert to what God is saying to us.

Are there any old men dreaming dreams pertinent to Christ’s return?

In the meantime may we be ready for His return at anytime by being faithful in His Will for our life.

Are you ready my friend? No?

Then you may want to go to Prayer now, as there’s no time like the present!

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. Jennifer, I enjoyed reading this post on dreams. So often we dismiss them as the silly nonsense of our subconscious, and perhaps many are just that. But I do believe God speaks to us in dreams, as I have had a similar encounter as you shared, a premonition type of dream preparing me for an event yet future which occured a short time after. May we be attentive to all the ways God chooses to speak to us, especially in the last days!

  2. I’ve been writing down what I can remember of my dreams this past week. I’m seeing some interesting threads and surprise combinations of people in the same scene. I’m pretty sure there’s some lessons in there and I guess if God wants me to learn something in the process, He’ll show me.

Meanwhile, I love how you continue to welcome us with lovely eats and delicious drinks. It’s sure nice and homey around here, friend …

  3. My dreams flit away almost as soon as I open my eyes, but every now and then, I have one that’s really vivid. I try to remember those and see what God’s showing me. I appreciate your exhortation to be ready and on the lookout for the Lord’s return!

  5. I find dreams fascinating too. I seem to go through periods of having very vivid dreams and then other periods where I don’t remember my dreams at all. Most of the ones I do remember are just strange but occasionally there is one that feels significant and like God might be speaking through it.
