Dinner for Two

Welcome, it’s so lovely that you can join me here, I thought we would have some fun today by looking at a few important topics while enjoying different courses.

But first let’s grab a cuppa, a treat & get comfy. I’m having a Caramel Café Latte with slices of fresh pear which is quite a delicious combination.

The Entree

Recently a topic was highlighted as I chatted with a friend. It was how some pass judgement on others without knowing or understanding the circumstances in that individual’s life.

I shared with her what I’ve learnt since living with chronic illness, that people will judge what they do not understand.  And even those who have compassion at the begining of significant life change sadly can fall prey to;

The Main Course

Lately, I’ve noticed that I have been feeling a little off kilter & when I start feeling this way I look to the calender, for this feeling only comes when an anniversary is approaching. An anniversary  of the death of a loved One.

For our subconscious stores the memory of the traumas we go through & will signal the time to our body & spirit before we recognise what date is approaching…

This time it’s approaching my son Benjamin’s anniversary…shared in;

Dessert

And that brings us to often the most enjoyable course of a Banquet, dessert! What gives you joy my friend, is it a delicious meal or a refreshing cuppa?

Or maybe it’s time spent with family & friends? Or is it the simple things in life like a butterfly fluttering by or the beauty of a flower?

I think most of us would agree that all of those things bring us joy to some degree, maybe some more then others.

But one thing that I really enjoy is spending time with my husband under the stars for we see so many breathtaking Celestial events as shared in;

Well I hope you enjoyed our dinner for two my friend & had a nibble of at least one of the above courses, if not all.

What’s your favourite course?

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. This was a lovely way to invite us into your story dear Jennifer. Thank you for sharing the heart moments of your life. I so appreciate your honesty and trust in the midst of your moments. Blessings and love to you across the ocean dear friend.

    Jennifer, I so appreciated that you shared on compassion fatigue. My dad (88YO) has COPD and heart issues and after getting covid in December is still struggling. He was hospitalized for 5 days and they determined he is struggling with long covid now – still positive at 50 days in. Many cannot understand this. You are so right in saying – “don’t place expectations upon them that they simply can not meet.” They truly do not need the reminder of what they are still unable to do. Your tender and kind heart shines through in the words you share and were most encouraging to me today!

    1. Oh Joanne, I’m saddened to hear that your Dad is struggling with so much. Although I know you would be a great encouragement to him with your kind & compassionate heart my friend. Bless you both 💕

  4. Truly loved visiting with you today, Jennifer, and transitioning through the timely topics you shared with each course! My favorite was lingering over compassion fatigue, gaining a better understanding, as I meet numerous caregivers in hospice care suffering from this!

    Your table is set with joy and sorrow, yet the memories touch your heart, and in reflection, the memories now touch our hearts, Jennifer. Sitting quietly with you as you remember your sweet son, daughter, and first husband, and now, as you walk with your second husband and create precious memories in this season…sometimes we have no words…we just sit quietly together.

  6. A good visit with a friend will bring us all these parts of the meal! Those anniversary dates catch me too, whether I’m initially conscious of them or not. Hoping your favorite memories of Benjamin remain strong.

Your precious Benjamin that was born sleeping, yes , you will see him again❤️ I can’t imagine the pain in the loss of a child. Only God’s grace and the peace that passes all understanding gives you the strength to carry on 🙏🏻
