Hi, come on in my friend for a cuppa & chat, you’re always welcome!
Today we’ll be looking at a trip that I’ve been on & I use that word in the following meaning;
Trip – a journey or excursion, especially for pleasure.
But first let’s grab our cuppa’s & get comfy before we continue.
I’m having a Café Latte today with a slice of gf Date loaf, what’s yours?
When it all began
My writing journey began when I was a child, I had many ‘pen pals’ who I continued to write to into adulthood.
I also loved Creative Writing at school, putting my imagination into words was an exciting exercise & one of my favourite subjects.
However, it was my younger sister who was the first to encourage me to write as an author, she felt that my unique experience needed to be shared with others.
Over the intervening years since that unique experience, which had taken me to different lands & different cultures to share verbally, I had not written it down.
My journey as an author actually began in 2004 after the death of my late husband to Brain cancer with my first book being published in 2007 on the process of grief.
A decade later I felt it was time to share my unique experience, that my sister had encouraged all those years beforehand, in a Vinaigrette which was published in 2017.

But the most joy I’ve received on this writing journey has been from blogging!
In writing to meet with you here my friend.
Did you know that you are a wonderful blessing?
No? Well you are!
Why?
Because I get to converse with you over a cuppa & reflection. What a joy this is!
I love getting to know you as we meet here & interact together.

If you’re a writer, what inspired you to write?
Until next time,
Jennifer

Thanks for sharing your writing trip.
I never thought of myself as a writer, nor did I even have the desire to be one. I wrote a few poems as a teenager, but not much else. Then back in the late 90s I read a lot of Women’s World short stories. I suddenly had the desire to see if I could write such a story. Well, I started, and started over. I wrote and rewrote. I think it took me about 20 years before I self-published my full-length novel, not short story. In between, I began writing other things. I had a short story published in the Pentecostal Testimony Magazine (the first of a dozen such stories now in book form), won a creative fiction contest. And now I have around 10 published books and several others in the works, in different stages. I haven’t done much writing for the past couple of years, but hope I will find the energy I need to get back at it. I spend a few hours in prayer each day, partly with my pastor’s wife over the phone, and when I am finished with that, I am exhausted and hungry. I don’t eat anything except a banana until prayer is over. By the time I have a meal and a nap, I seem to be done for the day. I suppose it’s to be expected to have less energy at 78 than I used to have, but it can be frustrating not to be able to do all the things your mind tells you need to be done. I know you understand that.
Thank you for sharing your journey my friend! Isn’t it wonderful what God does with our experiences ☺️.
Yes, I do indeed understand.
It was so interesting to read about your writing journey. I loved Creative Writing in high school. I have to say it is blogging that has brought me both joy and connection with others. You are one of the joys I am grateful to have “met” while on this journey!
Awww, thank you Joanne & I feel the same about meeting you my sweet friend, I often think what a faithful & kind lady you are! 💝
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband.
I enjoyed reading your writing journey. I had a couple of pen pals in elementary school, one in England and one in New Zealand. But I wrote many letters to my grandmother as I was growing up. I kept a journal until about age 15. I didn’t write stories so much, but one of my teachers got me into writing a column for our school in a local neighborhood newspaper. I wrote a few magazine articles over the years. Then I discovered blogging, which I love! I have the first draft of a book, but it needs a lot of work yet.
Thank you Barbara.
I loved reading about your writing journey! Thank you for sharing & I encourage you to continue working on your book! 😊
Oh, I’m so sorry you have a RSI! I managed to give myself two (in the same arm) this summer while cleaning and painting a renovation project. Praying that you heal quickly!
Thank you Anita. I’m sorry to hear you have RSI too, is your arm healed yet?
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that. I had to take a pretty long (intermittent) blogging break within the last couple of years because I was getting tennis elbow from using my laptop on my lap and not sitting properly at a desk. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
Thank you! I’m glad you have recovered my friend. 😊
