Are you ready for this time of the year? No? Me either!
Time has literally flown by this year, hasn’t it?
I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner & I’m not organised yet!
Which is unusual for me, normally I have started putting together our grandchildren’s Christmas treat bags by now!
And to be completely honest I don’t have the energy to start!
So we’re going to procrastinate together for awhile, enjoying a lovely time of tea & reflection, in the hope it will rejuvenate our energy.
Are you tired & weary my friend?
Yep me too, it’s been a huge few years, hasn’t it?
While we’re all still trying to recover from the Pandemic, that keeps on keeping on & the changes it has heralded.
We’re also trying to live normal lives with all the challenges normal life presents.
So I think it’s time to STOP & have a mini retreat, don’t you?
So let’s grab our favourite cuppa’s & get comfy.
Now we’re seated, I truly want to know.
How are you today, my friend?
What’s happening in your world that has you longing for some time out?
Mine is extreme fatigue & weariness.
Have you noticed how weariness spreads throughout your entire body & clouds the mind?
Creating a fatigue that can only be described as bone weary.
For the weariness reaches so deeply into our beings that it feels as though it’s down to the bone.
Goals verses reality
My goal for this year was once again, to try & get out to meet up with friends & family more.
Aiming to balance the extra activity with meditative & restorative quietness.
However, this has proved to be a bit tricky & sadly I haven’t reached that goal.
As you may know it’s quite challenging for me to get this balance just right, since the nasty tenants moved in, shared in Focus
Alas, I’m on a learning curve gleaning wisdom from Jesus’ life.
Learning how He perfectly balanced activity with drawing apart in quiet contemplation to restore.
I do this in the following ways;
- As we are doing today by having a restful & refreshing time of tea & reflection.
- I also like to take a walk along the waterfront feeling that refreshing sea breeze upon my face.
I find that there’s just something very special about being near the sea that is so rejuvenating.
Although, time with God can be done in many ways & in different places.
But the main wisdom in having time apart from all the busyness of our lives is to refresh our spirit with the Holy Spirit by spending time with God through His Son, Jesus.
For Jesus left us an open invitation to come to Him each day, as He said;
“Come to Me, all who are weary
&
heavy laden,
&
I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you,
&
learn from Me,
for I am gentle & humble in heart
&
you shall find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29
And we all want that rest for our souls, don’t we?
Well your company & the tea were most enjoyable, thank you for sharing this time.
I’m feeling a lot more refreshed, I hope you are too.
And now I can begin those fun Christmas bags for my grandchildren.
Until next time,
Jennifer

We do our best to keep it simple. And where we live, the winters are cool and beautiful, but not too cold (we live in the desert). …I do agree, there is something about the sea, and I do miss it!

Hi Lisa, so lovely to have you join me in a cuppa today! 😊
I think simplicity is always the best way to go, it makes it more enjoyable for everyone.
Yes, I found the same when I was travelling in our Australian Outback (our very large desert areas) while it has its own breathtaking & unique beauty, I realised I’m a coastal gal I really missed the calming rhythm of the waves & the vista of the ocean.

Learning to “be still” when life seems to get busier and busier is a balancing act. Thank you, Jennifer.

I just now read you Focus post that I missed these last months. I’m sorry my friend for your new diagnoses. But I’m so thankful for your grace-filled sharing here about leaning into His balance and resting for our days. I am still learning about that too. May He bring relief and blessing into your days! Love & hugs to you.
