“It just doesn’t rain but it pours!”
The above is an old saying here in Australia. Are you familiar with it my friend?
It means when problems come, they all seem to come at once!
Well that seems to be happening in my life at the moment.
But before I share with you, lets grab our cuppa’s, a treat & get comfy.
I’m sitting in my comfy arm chair while listening to the choralling of our Australian Magpies, a breeding couple have chosen our yard to bring up their chick this season.
I have a cup of lovely Vanilla tea with a slice of gf Apricot & Almond toast to accompany it.
It’s actually cold here today on the East Coast of Australia!
Would you believe it in the middle of our Summer! Crazy weather!
Are you comfy now my friend? Let’s get started…
What do we do when troubles come?
Troubles do come to us all, don’t they, it’s just a part of living in this world.
But it’s how we react to those troubles & what we do with them that is important.
Recently quite a few troubles have presented themselves to me.
And I call them troubles because that’s what they could be, oh I could sugar coat them by calling them concerns but that’s not how they’ve presented.
Before we continue let’s look at the following definition;
Troubles = Difficulties or problems that can cause stress or anxiety.
Hmmm!
If you joined me here last week in Continuing the Art of Slow you will know that we’ve had a lot happening in our family recently.
Which could be seen as a shower of troubles.

A Torrential down pour!
This week a dear loved One also shared a serious challenge they are facing.
This added to the rain of recent troubles & quite frankly it felt like a torrential downpour was happening all in that moment!
However, I knew I had a choice, (we always have a choice in each & every circumstance/s), to become anxious or…
To stop & reflect for awhile…
And I thought the following,
I can either become upset or put my faith into action!
I choose Faith!
Because my friend, I know whom I believe & am certain that He will handle all of these problems as He has done many times in my life.
Remembering the following;
“Do not fret or have any Anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer (asking with intent) with thanksgiving, continue to make your requests known to God.”
Philippians 4: 6 (paraphrased)
So I went to His throne of Grace in prayer bringing all of these problems before Him! And will continue to until answers come.
I also called on support by requesting prayer from an amazing group of faithful ladies.
The Promise
Yes, these problems may have all come at once but my heavenly Father is the God of the Universe & He can handle them!
Did you notice the coloured text Asking with intent above?
This is my Theme for 2022 & I’ve been given the opportunity with these problems to put it into action already this year!
A promise comes with the above directive in Philippians;
“And God’s peace [that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God…that peace] which transcends all understanding shall stand guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4: 7
You see my friend we always have a choice not only in how we react to problems that come our way.
But also in how we act in regard to addressing those problems.
What’s your first course of action in reaction when troubles come your way? I’d love to hear about them.
Until next time,
Jennifer

I am very familiar with the expression “It never rains but it pours”. I’m 76, and remember hearing it even in my childhood. It often seems like it, too. Praying that you will peacefully walk through this storm.

I’ve been having little troubles—such as using the wrong link for the link-up and forgetting to start an email sequence 🤨. I’m frustrated with myself, but I need to give myself grace (and save my emotional energy for actual problems!).

I am practicing my word “attach” when troubles have been arriving. It is a new approach instead of immediately turning to myself for a solution.

Jennifer, I am so sorry that problems keep coming at you. I have been studying James chapter 1 over the past couple of weeks. God’s Word always brings hope and comfort! Sending love and hugs, dear one 🙏🏻♥️

You won’t believe it Pam but I have been doing a study in James 1 too! In fact I just finished v12 this morning! God is good, all the time! That’s a song from many years ago, I think but a truth too. Thank you sweet friend ❤️

Jennifer, troubles can come into our lives and emotions can quickly overwhelm us. We need to remind ourselves to bring our troubles before the throne, the place where our High Priest can take care of every need. By the time I came to the end of your post, I realized I was humming a song. I will leave it here … https://youtu.be/0ZDzcMNJ-vY
