Warning, it’s that Time of the Year Again!

Hi, welcome to my little corner of cyberspace my friend where we enjoy a cuppa together in a time of reflection on interesting everyday topics.

Yesterday hubby & I went for a walk around our neighbourhood, as we often do, which takes us along the waterways at the rear of our neighbourhood. As we walked we could hear the beat & thud of a chopper (Helicopter) approaching.

I commented to my husband that it sounded like a big military chopper & he replied it sounded like an old one. He was right as it got closer, louder & the thud resonated throughout the landscape we could see that it no longer had military colours but civilian colours. And I thought it’s that time of the year again!

But before I share why I had those thoughts let’s grab a cuppa, a treat & get comfy. I’m enjoying a large mug of Lavender Lady Grey tea blend & a gf toasted crumpet with a drizzle of honey, absolutely delicious!

We’ll be sitting inside again today as although we’ve had some very hot Spring days this past week today it’s raining, overcast & cold as I write. Although we are rejoicing that we have rain as our garden & the surrounding bushland were getting rather dry & sad looking in the beginning of Spring!

Over this past weekend

On Saturday morning hubby & I woke to the smell of smoke heavy in the air, which is always a concern but after I had checked that our house & our neighbours homes were okay.

I checked the Emergency Service’s App that sends warnings from our State’s Natural Disasters Control Centre about the current fire/flood risks in our area, I saw that there was a notice of a bushfire burning in another Village not too far away. The warning said our local Volunteer Bushfire Brigade had it under control at the moment but to keep watch in case that changed.

As the day went by I noticed the smoke hanging over our village cleared but that night once again the smell of bushfires hung heavy in the air. I always keep our very brave men & women of our Volunteer Bushfire Brigade in prayer when I smell bushfire smoke for it’s a very dangerous task to fight bushfires here in Australia, blazes can & often do become extremely challenging, overwhelming & dangerous.

And then on Sunday we actually travelled past the above bushfire area on our way to my youngest granddaughter’s birthday picnic, you met her in Little Miss L who’s now in her mid teens!

And we noticed that the Volunteers of the Bushfire Brigade were all still dealing with smouldering stumps of the fire that had been burning from Saturday & did indeed have it under control. But it had consumed 119 hectares (295 acres) of bushland in those 24 hours.

But getting back to the Chopper we saw yesterday, we noticed it had a large water bag hanging under it which was empty, we realised it was coming to the waterways to fill it’s bucket to water bomb another larger & fiercer bushfire which had broken out in an area a little further away threatening industry & homes.

When I looked on the App again, many bushfires were burning up & down the east coast! And there were quite a few around this area. We heard the Chopper go back & forth refilling it’s water bucket that day many times until just after sunset. So you can understand how relieved we are that rain has now fallen, praise God!

The Warning has gone out!

However, this season is of particular concern as the State Emergency Services have warned us all to make sure we have a Bushfire Plan in place for our own households safety, as they’re predicting a very dry & challenging Bushfire season.

I know from personal experience that we should never take Bushfire Season for granted especially here in Australia. Our close encounter is shared in the following post;

And what I’ve learnt in life is often when life seems to be sailing relatively calmly along, that’s when we can become complacent! Which is never a good idea for we should always be vigilant & aware of the dangers & challenges that may come seasonally & spiritually.

While not being fearful we can, as much as possible, prepare for each season in nature & life. While we can do practical things to be prepared for seasons in nature, it’s always wise to be spiritually prepared too for what may be just around the corner.

Knowing that we have an amazing Heavenly Father who has promised to be with us come what may, especially to those who love Him;

“Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’ Isaiah 41:10 AMP

Are you spiritually prepared my friend? No? Then you may like to join me in the following Prayer.

Until next time,

Jennifer
