Peace & Harmony

Welcome my friend, come on in for a cuppa & reflection. Today I’ll be sharing about a wonderful gift & display of love that I was given & continue to receive to this day.

But first let’s grab our cuppa’s, a treat & get comfy… I have baked a gf Blueberry & coconut loaf for our time together & I thought a mug of Sticky Date Tea might be a soothing accompaniment. Both are delicious!

That memorable Day

Hubby & I have just celebrated twenty years since he proposed to me, which was Valentine’s Day 2004! Back then he had waited all day for that perfect moment but when it didn’t arrive (just the way he had imagined), he blurted it out before the day came to its close, of course I said yes!

We spent Valentine’s Day this year remembering that day & enjoyed an early morning walk along the waterfront, a pause to listen to the bird life, watch the Mullet jumping out of the water, the Black Swans & Pelican elegantly gliding upon the water & a Fisherman attempting to catch fish.

We spend most of our days together now that we’re both retired. But having said that, we enjoy different interests & are always busy with our own projects.

So while I’m here writing & spending time with you or creating scrapbook albums/photo books for grandchildren & family hubby is out in his workshop creating, fixing or constructing amazing projects.

Apart from having walks along the waterfront, we often enjoy a picnic or a drive together.  Watching the changing flora, wildlife & tides with each new season is something we both look forward to as we have a mutual love of God’s Creation.

We also enjoy our deep & meaningful chats about many topics including politics, all things spiritual & especially savour our prayer times together.

We have a mutual rhythm of harmony in our marriage that is very precious indeed…but it has taken some hard work to get to this point!

You see when we got married I had been a widow for two years, he a divorcee for seven & we both had children from previous marriages. While my children were adults living independent lives he was a single Dad with three dependent teenage daughters.

We became a combined family with all the challenges that go along with bringing two entirely different family cultures & parenting styles together. We were also both working full time in our own respective careers as we set off on this adventure called marriage.

One of those challenges we have worked through is shared in the;

Language of relationships…

Mutual Harmony

Over the years we found that praying together daily is an absolute must, for the Lord’s guidance & wisdom is paramount for our marriage to continue to grow & thrive.

Even when we are apart for any reason eg. visiting family interstate or hospital stays we make praying together daily a priority.

We also bring a mutual respect for each other & where the other may be travelling emotionally, spiritually, mentally or physically in each new season of our life together.

However, this takes time, patience & negotiation on both sides for this harmony to grow & become established. And once established just like any established vine it takes a concerted effort to continue to nurture, water & yes at times prune for that continued fruitful harmony.

But I can say without a doubt that it’s all worth it!

You see we have learnt;

The Love Step

I continually praise God for the kind, considerate & gentle husband that He has given me…for He definitely brought us together & we feel blessed to have the marriage we have…

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day my friend? Did you enjoy time with your loved one/s, friends or did you have a wonderful time alone with the lover of your soul?

I’d love to hear about it in the comments section below.

Until next time,

Jennifer
