“Things Never Happen the Same Way Twice, dear One.”

The above quote is from one of my favourite movies, can you guess which one? But before we continue let’s grab a cuppa, a treat & get comfy.

Today is thankfully much cooler in what has been a very hot Summer here in Australia, some parts of our east coast have been experiencing 50C (122F) degree heat for days on end.

Thankfully today there’s a southerly blast from the Antarctic which has cooled things down! So I’m enjoying a mug of Ginger Chai Latté with a gf melty cheese, tomato & ham toastie, delicious!

Unfortunately with extreme heat come extreme conditions for our beautiful Sunburnt country, as experienced below.

Oh No, it’s happening again!

A few years ago I shared the following experience:

Fire Storm

After that rather intense experience both hubby & I widened our Watch Zone on the pre warning Natural Disasters App, as embers can travel a long way!

At the beginning of last week, that App sent a warning that there was a new fire in our Watch Zone located on our Peninsula, just up the road in fact. It said to stay alert & up to date with this fire as it was out of control. Although Firefighters were trying their best to bring it under control.

In the meantime one of my husband’s daughters, who lives in a village twenty minutes away also got the same Emergency Warning but it notified her that they were in the direct path of this firey beast. And half of their street that backed onto the Bush Reserve were to evacuate!

Thankfully they don’t live on that half of the street but they had to be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice if the command was given!

Hubby & I went into prayer for all concerned.

Then we heard a rumble, our house began to shake & a loud thud, thud, thud got closer & closer until it was upon us. They had bought in the big firefighting Choppers, they were being refuelled at the end of our street. Over the next five days we heard them coming & going.

We continued to uphold everyone involved in fighting this bushfire in the Air & on the ground in prayer, as this beast had now grown & devoured an enormous area of our Peninsula.

But it wasn’t the only fire burning, there were many Bushfires on the east coast. Another bigger firey beast was just across the Bay.

Thankfully the night the fire front threatened my step daughter’s street, the firefighters were able to back burn overnight & gain a containment line, they were safe, no houses or lives lost. Praise God!

However the wind changed & a new front was now burning, so while the firefighters had gained control of one area another was growing rapidly.

But it wasn’t the same as last time…

You see nothing happens exactly the same way twice. Did you guess where that quote comes from? Yes, it’s;

“In the 2008 film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, when Lucy questions why Aslan did not intervene sooner, he tenderly explains, Things never happen the same way twice, dear one. This quote occurs when Aslan meets Lucy in the woods after she is the only one who initially sees him.”

In the previous experience I shared in Fire Storm, there were only firefighters on the ground fighting the fire that threatened our home, as the firefighting Aircraft were fighting fires elsewhere but God intervened & answered our prayers quite quickly that time.

This time although it started in the same area on the Peninsula it took a different path & they had larger firefighting equipment on the ground & in the Air.

However, they were still fighting it after five days but on the fifth night rain began to fall & fall it did. The fire was being extinguished, God had intervened! Prayer had been answered. We were jubilant.

Prayer

Have you found that when we receive a quick answer to a prayer on one thing that we start to expect a quick answer to the next? Or it may not be in timing but in what we hope for or in the way we think God should answer.

And as time goes by we wonder why God hasn’t answered it yet as quickly or in the way He did last time. And maybe, just maybe a little disappointment creeps in…

Just like Lucy expressing her disappointment to Aslan (archetype of Jesus) that he didn’t save them sooner or appear to everyone, like he had previously. To which Aslan replied with the above quote, reassuring her that he definitely had a plan but not the same as last time & he knew exactly what was going on.

This story highlights that every journey in prayer is unique. Our past experience with the answer to our prayers can’t be expected to be repeated in exactly the same way.

For only God knows the full circumstances of what we hope for & only He is wise enough to know the beginning from the end of a situation, the perfect timing & way in which it needs to be answered.

As the following scripture reminds us;

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” Romans 8:28 AMP

Are you waiting for an answer to your prayer my friend? Don’t lose heart your answer will come, God is working & it will arrive in His perfect timing.

Until next time,

Jennifer

I am so glad to hear that you and your family are well and safe.
God is almighty and He knows best
Thank you for sharing with us at SSPS 397. See you again soon

  2. I am so glad that you and your family are safe from that fire now, Jennifer! That must have been so frightening, to know the evacuate order could come at any moment! Praise God that He is available to cry out to at every moment! And I love those movies also. I think it may be time for a rewatch soon! I’m keeping you in my prayers now, during this fire watch season! ❤️

    1. Thank you for your prayers Bettie. Unfortunately, Bushfire Season is just a part of life here in Australia, we take it in our stride with Bushfire plans & precautions as best we can. But it can be concerning at times when it’s bearing down on us.

  3. Jennifer the photo of the fire is frightening. I rejoice with you that God sent the rain! I have been praying for a need and waiting on God to answer. He doesn’t work on my timetable, but He is still working on what is His best for me. Thank you for this encouraging post my friend!

    Blessings.
    Pam

    1. Yes, we’re rejoicing too Pam. 😊
Unfortunately the fire across the bay didn’t get the amount of rain it needed to be completely extinguish it so it’s still burning (it’s in a National Park, so no houses or properties are under threat).
Thus we’re experiencing a lot of smoke & ash at the moment. We continue to pray for rain for that fire & the fires that are burning up & down the coast.
God’s timing will indeed be perfect for both of our prayers sweet friend, Jennifer

  4. I knew pretty quickly where that quote came from- I grew up on that movie series

Still is cold over here (great times for hot chocolate)- at least I got the snow I wanted (snow barely comes where I live, so glad I got it)

    1. How lovely that you got your wish Meg, we don’t get snow in our part of Australia as we’re on the coast.
So I enjoy seeing the snow scenes from my Northern Hemisphere friends. Hot chocolate is great when it’s cold outside. Lovely having you join me today. 😊

      1. Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear about that fire; that is such a scary situation. I’m glad that you are all safe and that God sent rain your way. You are all in my thoughts.
