Magnificent Beauty

Welcome my friend! Come on in & we’ll enjoy a cuppa together while reflecting on the magnificent beauty of God this season.

Before we do let’s grab our cuppa’s, a treat & get comfy. Today I have a mug of Vanilla Chai Tea with a gf Choc Chip cookie (aka a bicky in Australia). What are you having today?

Now we’re comfy we can begin…

Here in Australia Spring has sprung & our sleeping gardens, bushland & parks have suddenly  awoken with the brilliant colours that herald Spring in all it’s beauty has arrived.

I’m particularly enjoying our Azaleas in our front garden which are very heavy with blooms, the daisy border is full with daisy faces that open by day & close by night. The Bluebells are swinging in the breeze. And the Crepe Myrtles are leafing up & will soon flourish with colour too!

Yes, Spring & Autumn are my favourite seasons of the year for the temperate climate is so lovely for this ol’ gal with Fibromyalgia & Automimmune conditions.

But what about the Evergreens?

I think most people love colour, seeing Spring & Autumn in all their beauty reminds us that He is an amazing & artistic God.  But what about the Evergreens that stand faithful & true throughout all seasons?

We have many Evergreens in our yard there are native Lilly pillys, Bottle Brushes, Acacias, Bromelaids & an Umbrella tree that are in various tones of green all year round. We even have a Fried Egg shrub, real name Gordonia axillaris, that gives beautiful large flowers when in bloom that look exactly like fried eggs but its folage remains green the rest of the year!

Some plants like the Lilly pilly have beautiful new red growth while others have blossoms through Spring but maintain their green leaf all year through.

Evergreens always remind me of God’s steadfastness & faithfulness in His loving kindness to us throughout the seasons of our lives.

Have you looked in the Mirror lately?

Often when we think of God’s Creation we think of Nature & we exclude God’s most wonderous Creation of all, mankind.  As I gain pleasure from the beauty of my Spring garden I’m mindful that God created us for His pleasure;

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4: 11 KJB

And that is so very important my friend, especially in a world that constantly stresses that unless we have it’s standard of beauty then we’re just not making the grade!

The following scripture comes to mind as I not only thank God for the beauty of His Creation in my garden but I also proclaim;

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139: 14 NIV

This ol’ gal definitely doesn’t have the standard of this world! I have wrinkles that are a living testimony to the long adventure God has taken me on throughout the decades of my life with Him.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Roman 12: 1-2 NIV

You see I’m not into what’s proclaimed to be the latest & greatest standards of this world. Nor do I follow the latest trends but rather I’m who God created me to be, uniquely Jennifer.

And for those of us who know Him (God the Father), we also realise that our value is not in what we wear, look like, do or own but more importantly in who we are, His child & joint heir with His Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.

“And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share His suffering.” Romans 8: 17 NLT

The following quote comes to mind that was written on a plaque in our lecture theatre/chapel when I was in Bible College many years ago it was by CT. Studd;

“Only one Earth life, soon it will pass, only what’s done for Jesus will last”

May we remember that we are fearfully & wonderfully made especially for relationship with God. And although Adam & Eve broke that relationship through sin falling from God’s grace, Jesus’ sacrifice, resurrection & ascension paved the way to restore that relationship.

But it doesn’t end there, God didn’t leave us without support when Jesus went back to Him. He sent us a great Helper, His Holy Spirit to guide, direct & comfort us in this world for Eternity. However, we have to choose that relationship by asking Jesus in Prayer.

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. First, I learned a new word: bicky. 😉 Now I’ll know how to ask for my chocolate chip cookie if I ever visit Australia. But more importantly, yes, those evergreen sources of support are invaluable. I had a “branches & burgers” cookout at my house last weekend and we walked around appreciating and identifying the majestic trees around us. So many life lessons/metaphors to explore in them!

    1. Yes we do love our bickies here in Australia Lisa! 😀 I love that you had a cookout (we call a ‘Barbie’) with a theme, we also love our Barbies here & often have them with our families at home or on picnics.

      All Shire Councils supply complimentary public Barbies (gas BBQ stations) in most parks here throughout Australia in picnic areas. The councils keep them well maintained, cleaned & ready for use.

    The change of seasons is always amazing as there truly is a magnificent beauty to be found in each one. I love your perspective on evergreens and probably will never look at another one without remembering the faithfulness and stability of of God. Especially in this changing and unsteady world. You are a blessing, Jennifer, and I am so glad you share with us all!

  3. Dear Jennifer, I’m having a cup of cherry green tea that my husband gifted me for my Birthday last week! It’s always fun to see what tea you are drinking this week. Spring is my favorite, so I loved hearing about your beautiful blossoms, and your unique evergreens. God has surely created such a large variety on this earth. So why do we think we all need to look alike? Thank you for sharing your precious encouragement here. We are His unique treasures! Blessings to you!

    1. Happy belated birthday Bettie! Your tea blend sounds delicious.
      I agree & it saddens me when I see so many taking steps to change their appearance to be ‘acceptable’ to the world & end up all looking the same. When each of our uniqueness has a magnificent beauty of of its own.
      Blessings to you too sweet friend.

    We all need reminding we were created for God’s pleasure because it’s easy to forget in a world we don’t often feel we measure up. It makes me happy that He is pleased He created me!

    What lovely nature photos and loving words. I find such comfort and beauty in natural wonders and appreciate and give thanks for my senses that can experience them. Saw this post at SSPS#379. I’m there too #63 thru 67. Happy first day of autumn and be well.

  6. Hi Jennifer! Your azaleas are gorgeous. As always thank you for pointing us to our Creator!

    I love this, “You see I’m not into what’s proclaimed to be the latest & greatest standards of this world. Nor do I follow the latest trends but rather I’m who God created me to be, uniquely Jennifer.”

    We all need to be reminded of this especially young girls and teens!

    Blessings sweet friend,
    Pam
