How to celebrate Life in the ordinary!

Welcome my friend! Today we are having a Devonshire Tea with a variety of teas to choose or coffee if you prefer.

I have freshly baked Scones, Strawberry Conserve & have dollop Cream for us.

For today is a celebration!

A celebration of Life!

Do you celebrate your life my friend?

Life in all its wondrous complexities with it’s joys, it’s challenges & yes even it’s sad times.

For that is life, isn’t it?

Recently, I have been attempting to celebrate life in the ordinary everyday things.

Really seeing them through a differing perspective & appreciating them anew.

For there are rich blessings in the everyday things in life that are quite extraordinary.

Things like…

Celebrating the joy in having a husband who is such a loving companion in this season of life.

Really appreciating the little things he does each day so that we can live the life we live.

And so that you & I can meet here in this space each week.

Simple things like washing the dishes, as I do the cooking, because we don’t have a dishwasher.

Keeping the garden well manicured & flourishing.

Doing the maintenance on our house, which seems never-ending.

Appreciating the little things like checking the oil, tyre pressure & water in my car before I drive any distance.

Celebrating precious time with him walking hand in hand along the waterfront.

Listening to the birds singing, the waves lapping & feeling the sea breeze upon our faces.

Or sitting having meals together, discussing the day’s or world events.

Celebrating our communication by giving him my full attention when he has something to say.

Making sure I stop what I’m doing & look into my husband’s eyes, letting him know that what he has to say is important to me & really listening to him.

Why?

Because too often we become absorbed in our projects, concerns & thoughts instead of appreciating the really important things in life!

Our Spouse & loved ones!

And dare I say, sadly taking them for granted.

This should never be!

We need to appreciate & enjoy the time that is given to us.

As the world mourns the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, my thoughts have turned to appreciating the time that hubby & I have together anew.

Because the fact is none of us know when our time will end on this Earth & it can come all of a sudden.

And in eternal life although we will meet again, we will not be married.

As Jesus told us;

“For in the resurrection neither do men marry nor are women given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven [who do not marry nor produce children].”

Matthew 22: 30 Refer II

Do you take your spouse & loved ones for granted my friend?

Maybe it’s time to appreciate them anew & see the extraordinary in the ordinary everyday things in life.

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. Jennifer, beautiful post. It’s so easy to take people and things for granted. It’s so important to take the time to truly appreciate and love those around us. Thank you for this reminder, friend. Wishing you a beautiful day. Thank you for sharing with us at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party #62.

  2. What delightful goodies with our cuppa today. Yum. I didn’t always celebrate life in the ordinary but I try to now. I’m amused by the little things, and many times the little things fill me with joy. I try to be observant during my day so that I can thank and praise God in the ordinary everyday.
Thank you bunches for sharing this with Sweet Tea & Friends this month sweet friend.

    1. I love your following words Paula;
‘and many times the little things fill me with joy.’
Yes it’s the little things we often took for granted that give such joy now. Bless you sweet friend ❤️

The scones look delicious, Jennifer! Thank you for the gentle reminder to treasure our greatest treasures every day for we are never promised tomorrow.

  4. Yes! I greatly appreciate my spouse, and I’m working on letting him know more often! He fixes and maintains our vehicles, can fix just about anything that goes wrong in a house, and has a high-pressure job he executes with wisdom.
