Love Notes…

We all enjoy  messages of love, don’t we? Lately I’ve been enjoying many such messages but not from my husband nor from my daughters or friends. So I thought I would share these beautiful messages with you today.

But before I do let’s grab a cuppa, a treat & get comfy. It’s raining today as I write this, here on the east coast of Australia I would describe it as a wet, freezing & windy day.  A mug of hot tea & warm gf Banana & Raspberry Muffin are definitely on the agenda!

We’re also sitting in the warmth of my living room looking out on our front garden & the bush reserve beyond that is very lush & green at the moment from all the rain we’ve had this Winter.

Now we’re comfy we can begin…

Messages of love in a Material World

In western culture messages of love are often commercialised, think of Valentine’s Day, Mother’s & Father’s days, Christmas & Birthdays, where it’s constantly advertised that how one shows love is often by the biggest, best or most expensive gift.

Then there’s the movie world that paints love notes primarily as vehicles for romance. But what about those messages that are sent to show love & appreciation,  without having to turn that sentiment into a material gift or romantic liaison?

What about the messages of love that are sent because you genuinely want to send a note that you’re thinking about them from a heart full of love & appreciation for their presence in your life?

They seem to be few & far between today…don’ they?  With the falling away of notes & cards sent through the post I think we have lost something special.  The Joy that was felt when those surprise envelopes arrived unexpectedly can’t be denied.

Oh, I know we have mobile phones with text messages constantly coming in & emails sent on a daily basis. But nothing beats a card or note in the mail…or does it?

A Special Message of a deeply personal kind

In our family we have WhatsApp group chats, in one of our group chats all our family members are a part. My eldest daughter created this chat & called it, ‘Sonshine Journey’ when her & hubby with their three sons were travelling around our grand country for a year, so that we could all travel with them through their photos, videos & texting.

This particular group chat has remained ever since as a family sharing platform that we can share with everyone at once what needs to be shared.

Another group chat that was created by my youngest daughter this year is primarily for the female members of our family titled ‘Wednesday Waffle’. Where us gals can waffle (chat) & the male members of our family, who aren’t into chatting as us gals are, are blissfully unaware (they’re  rather delighted by this arrangement, lol).

We each post a short video (only a few minutes long) on Wednesdays mainly of what’s been happening in our respective worlds over the past week but we can also share how we’re feeling as well. I absolutely love this chat as I get to see & hear how all of my daughters & adult granddaughters (& their families) are fairing each week, I highly recommend it!

My daughter who started this Wednesday group was wanting connection with all of us but was lacking time in her busy life to connect on an individual basis. And this chat meets her & our needs for connecting in a very meaningful way.

As I find it difficult to chat on the phone most days, due to Fibro Fog, this format helps greatly because I can record my Wednesday Waffle video on my own, without overwhelming stimulus that comes with chatting on the phone person to person & then post it up on our group chat when I’m done.

The Blessing

Every Wednesday my youngest granddaughter Lily, who has Special abilities, watches our videos when she gets home from school, she absolutely loves them!

You may remember her in;

Exploring Super Abilities

And lately I’ve been receiving the following messages of love from her, Lily who is non verbal, has hearing loss, very limited literacy skills & developmental challenges;

These messages of love, absolutely melt my heart, my granddaughter with her very special abilities is putting her love into a sign language emoji message with her limited words to express her love to me. I can’t express the magnitude of joy & blessing this brings to my heart!

Love Notes for You…

Did you know there are wonderful notes of love for you too? They’re sent by the One who loves you beyond what you can ever know or imagine, God our Heavenly Father, who sent us His Son Jesus, the Messiah, to save us.

Save us from what you may ask? I explain the answer in my story.

These messages of love are throughout His Word, aka the Bible. One such message is also a prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed & I leave with you;

“I ask that out of the riches of His glory He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith.

Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, will have power…to comprehend the length, width, height and depth of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power…” Amen!

Ephesians 3: 16-20 BSB

  1. Oh, how I love all the ways you are staying connected with your family, Jennifer! One of my favorites is a Marco Polo group video chat. I don’t know if you have that in Australia, but it’s popular in the states as a way to send as short or long a message you’d like. There’s just something special about getting to see as well as hear and read someone else’s words. But whatever methods we choose, connection through love is the goal!

    Jennifer, this is my first time to visit, saw you on April J Harris. What a lovely post and what a lovely idea you and your daughters have, and your Lilly sounds like a delightful girl. I am a grammy to a 12 yrs. old girl, and we have had the privilege of watching her 1 or 2 days of the week since she was 3 mo. old, and what a joy that has been. We homeschool her several days a week for the last 2 or 3 yrs. as she goes to school 2 times a week. Aren’t Grands just the best.

    That was a lovely gift for you from Lilly…………..and I know Jesus as well, and it is def His love note to us. I have lived in the USA, my whole life, and love it here.

    Look forward to reading more posts…….as I subscribed.

    Have a lovely evening,

    Blessings, Nellie

    What a lovely post about love notes! And how special yours from your non-verbal granddaughter must be to you. Such a blessing to read here today.

    I also noticed in reading that you have fibromyalgia. I understand the fibro fog, as I also have fibromyalgia.

    1. Thank you Dianna, so lovely to have you join me here for a cuppa.
      Although I’m saddened to hear you understand what Fibro Fog is as you have FM too.
      May you find blessings in your day today new friend 😊

  4. Thank you Jennifer for sharing these lovely ways that your family has found to stay connected! My heart also rejoices when I see a message coming in from one of my grandchildren. It really is hard when everyone is scattered so far away. Even tho technology has so many drawbacks, I am thankful for some of the blessings it brings! I pray you are having a pain-relief kind of day today, dear friend! ❤️🙏

  5. We spend time at our monthly staff meetings giving verbal high-fives to our coworkers who have gone above and beyond to make our lives or the lives of the children and families, just a little bit better. Such a simple thing can make someone’s week.

    Stopping by from the July One Word Link-up.

  6. Jennifer, this post is so special. I just love how creative your family is in order to stay connected! It was a blessing to read again about your darling granddaughter, Lily. Thank you again for sharing her with us!

    Many blessings, sweet friend
    Pam

  7. This is beautiful, Jennifer, and I love the idea of your Wednesday Waffle chat! I also love your reminder of the love notes from God to us. How wonderful is it that the very Creator of the world thinks enough of us to leave these messages of love for us? I hope you’re doing as well as possible sweet friend. Blessings to you!

    1. Hi Terri,
      So lovely having you join me here today. Thank you for your kind & encouraging words sweet friend. I agree it is wonderful to know that God loves us so much that He continually reveals His love through His word to us. Blessings to you too!
