The Joy & Pain of Motherhood

It’s Mother’s Day here in Australia this coming Sunday & for many around the world. I’ll be celebrating by meeting with my youngest daughter & her family for a picnic, if it’s not raining that is or an indoor picnic here if it is.

I know my other daughters & granddaughter, who are Mum’s themselves, will be celebrating with their families a thousand kilometres away (where they live). But I also know I’ll receive messages of love from them all, such joy!

However, I do know for many women this day is one of dread & great emotional pain because like Hannah in the Old Testament (1 Samuel 1-2:21) that longed for child either is still to come or has never come which is an emotional pain that is amplified each Mother’s Day.

I also realise that there are Mamas out there that have estranged adult children & this too is a constant ache of the heart.

So today I thought I would give you choices to choose from covering most of these circumstances;

Mothering…

Mama seasons…

A Mama’s Prayer…

May you have a peaceful Mother’s Day this weekend my friend knowing that whatever your circumstances surrounding motherhood that you will find love & comfort in the of arms of Jesus.

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. For God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. I john 4: 15-16

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. I enjoyed reading your daughter’s beautiful poem again. I am so thankful for my Godly mother who is in heaven. Wonderful blessings from the Heavenly Father to be a mother and grandmother, I am so grateful. Happy Mother’s Day, my friend!

    1. Thank you! I agree my friend it is indeed a wonderful blessing to be a Mum, grandma & for me a great grandma (for a second time in the next few weeks, just waiting 😊).
      I’m glad you enjoyed the poem again Pam, I enjoyed reading it too when I was choosing what to include in the post above.
      Praying you have a very blessed Mother’s Day!
