A Mama’s Prayer…

At the moment I’m having a little break from weekly blogging but I must say I’m missing you all!

So I’m popping back today to have a cuppa & share some of the exciting things that have been happening here in the last few weeks.

My Cup Overflows…

Recently, we had a lovely visit from my eldest granddaughter, her hubby & our six month old great grandson who had been living a thousand kilometres interstate. It was a quick visit on their way to a new place of work but a sweet time together none the less as we hadn’t seen them in awhile.

And a few weeks before that, also from a thousand kilometres away, we had a visit from my eldest daughter, her husband & three of our grandsons, the eldest of which turned 18 (here in Australia that marks adulthood), so we had a big BBQ. It was so lovely having family come together to celebrate.

And we had a lovely afternoon tea here at Easter for those family members living close by with lots of love, laughter, delicious food & of course chocolate!

Motherhood

Leading up to Mother’s Day I thought we would reflect upon the honour of Motherhood. As a Mama, grandmother & now great grandmother I feel very honoured indeed.

Honoured that God gifted me five children, two of whom are in Heaven, my son Benjamin & my daughter Candy until I see them again.

In the mean time I feel very privileged to have been able to raise three beautiful daughters & allowed to have an input into the lives of three beautiful step daughters.

I feel blessed that in our our combined family we have been gifted twelve amazing grandchildren, grandson in love & a cute great grandson.

The Reality of Life

As you read above you may ask;

‘Jennifer, has it all been sunshine & butterflies over the many decades of Motherhood & family life?’

No, it hasn’t for real life isn’t like that, is it?

The analogy of weather comes to mind; while some days are beautiful sunny days & we bask in them, other days are often windy, rainy, overcast or steamy hot days that come with the different seasons in life & all have their challenges.

The Greatest Privilege of All

I think the greatest privilege hubby & I have, apart from being blessed with the family we have, is to be able to bring them all before our Heavenly Father’s Throne of Grace in prayer each day.

Do we have some members of our combined family who are not walking with the Lord or even know Him yet? Yes.

However, I don’t think we can ever under estimate the power of prayer for those we love. As for forty years I prayed for two particular family members to come to know Jesus as their Lord & Saviour, & one sweet day in Oct, 2020 they did indeed find Him & did it together!

Although, I do know at times we can get a little discouraged when our prayers seem to go unanswered & when that happens I often think of the encouragement found in Habakkuk 3: 17-19 & 2 Corinthians 12:  9 put in my own words;

Though nothing seems to be happening, I will rejoice in the God of my Salvation for He is my strength, ‘His Grace is sufficient for me’, as He has made me to express confidence & to walk in triumph & security.

Thus my daily prayer for my family is;

Heavenly Father,

As I come before your throne of grace I pray that you will bring each & every member of our family into that right relationship of Salvation with you.

And those who are not walking with you or need to discover you as their Lord & Saviour will do so through the work of the Holy Spirit, so that none are lost.

And please continue to work in each life through the power of your love, your healing touch & your hedge of protection, guiding & directing each into the plan you have for their life.

In Jesus name, Amen

On another note…

There are many women who have a very loving impact in the lives of other’s, whether they have the title of Mother or not.

I would like to say a very big thank you to those wonderful & amazing women, for you too deserve to celebrate Mother’s Day for your love, your care & your nurturing ways!

Until next time,

Jennifer
