Peace on earth…really?

This is an interesting point to ponder, don’t you think… Welcome dear friend I have a lovely cuppa & delicious treat prepared for our special time of reflection together…

advent bake blur breakToday we have a pot of a Christmas tea blended with cloves, cinnamon & spices accompanied with a gf festive apricot shortbread… The tea is delightfully aromatic & the shortbread brings the memories of childhood to mind… The combined taste of the two is worthy of a…mmmm!

We are seated at my dining table which has double glass doors overlooking our front garden, a cheeky Australian Wattle bird is fluttering around my blueberry bush picking its own berrilicious treats to feed its Chick who is teetering on a branch nearby demanding to be fed!

In this Christmas season we hear & see the following quote; in the media, in stanzas of carols, in cards, on wrapping paper;

“Peace on earth & good will amongst men…” the Angels sang.

Luke 2:14

Ah pardon? Looking at the headlines & listening to the News broadcasts we know this planet Earth does not have peace! Even driving on the roads these days the increasing numbers of drivers with road rage is clearly noticeable! Peace…what peace?

So did the Angels get it wrong? Did Jesus’ birth just culminate in having an annual celebration of remembrance, gift giving, feasting, singing songs that give us warm fuzzy feelings in the moment…but don’t seem to have any real relevance in today’s world or since His birth? I mean hasn’t there been world wars & multi national factions through time to this present day…

Let us explore & reflect upon this…as we sip our cuppas together…

I think we need to start with Jesus as it’s His birth we are celebrating & He is the Christ, meaning Anointed One in the word Christmas & why He was sent which is the mas, meaning sending ~ Anointed One sending = Christmas.

So why was this Jesus the Christ sent?

The Creator of the universe, also known as God the Father sent Jesus the Christ who is His Son because only He could repair & mediate the broken relationship that had occurred between mankind & God…Refer 2

Jesus Christ accomplished this while on Earth through His miraculous birth, inspiring life, sacrificial death for us, rising from death & in ascending (return) to the Father…Refer 2

So…the peace on earth & good will amongst men that the Angels were singing about at His birth…is the gift of Jesus the anointed One. He is the peace & good will of God sent to us to restore the relationship.

He is still sending us that peace & good will today through His Spirit…Refer 2

I do realize that it takes a step of faith…to accept God’s precious gift of peace & goodwill into our own lives ~ by believing in & accepting His Son Jesus the Anointed One…which brings us into a personal relationship with the Father…

Therefore you may enjoy reading my journey to faith, shared in Digging for treasure…or you may find my near death experience in Excerpt inspiring…to begin your own spiritual journey of faith…you won’t be disappointed, I haven’t!

So dear friend…May you know the peace of God & may His good will become your reality through His Spirit this season…until next time…

Merry Christmas

  1. Merry Christmas to you and yours. There will never be peace in our hearts without Jesus. Thank you for always pointing to the Cross and Christ’s sacrificial death and His glorious resurrection that if we place our trust in Him we have eternal life! Blessings and hugs❤️

  2. There is always a force working to defeat Christ and it is very active in our country at the moment. Our president wants us to keep our eyes on him. I am determined to keep my eyes on Him. Merry Christmas.

  3. There are so many levels of peace that Jesus Christ brings due to sacrificing his life. We have peace in knowing that we have been reconciled to Jehovah God (Romans 5:10), peace in knowing our prayers are heard (Philippians 4:6,7), and confidence that true peace and an end to wickedness will come in the near future (Psalms 37:10,11). These are wonderful aspects of faith to meditate on.
