Have Fear & Anxiety become Viral in your Life?

Welcome my friend, come on in & we’ll enjoy a cuppa together while exploring those age old emotions, Fear & Anxiety that can easily go viral & reek havoc to our peace of mind.

But before we begin let’s grab a cuppa, a treat & get comfy. I thought I’d enjoy a slice of gf Fruit cake with a mug of Russian Caravan tea which go perfectly together.

Now we’re comfy let’s begin…

Do any of us have any Immunity to Fear & Anxiety

Recently, as I was talking to a member of my family I was reminded of a post I wrote a few years ago where fear, anxiety & imaginings had got the better of my friend while we were on holidays together, you may like to read the following;

Emotional contagions!

And how her imagining the worse case scenario of a situation had me concerned, as I had heard the commotion that had triggered her fear but, me being me, was determined to investigate & get to the bottom of what we were dealing with! While that incident turned out not to be serious but actually quite hilarious, sadly that wasn’t the case the other day.

In this recent conversation my loved one also began to express imaginings of the worse case scenario. I recognised that their fear & anxiety had become viral within them & while I validated their concerns in regards to this matter (as their concerns were real & valid regarding a serious matter).

I was also able to deescalate their anxiety & fears by encouraging them in their faith & to look to the Lord, for He is working in the situation as He has promised in His Word.

However, a little while after that chat I noticed that my peace had become disturbed within me, the viruses of fear & anxiety were now trying to infect my trust & confidence in God! As fear & anxiety, if we aloow them can be very contagious.

Have you noticed that when we encourage other’s in their faith, that often our faith comes under attack?

I have & I recognised that’s what was happening that day. So I took myself off to the Lord in prayer because it is He whom I place my faith & trust, remembering He has promised no matter what the circumstances the enemy tries to throw at us & our families that;

“…we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love Him, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.: Romans 8: 28

And while we continue to pray & wait for the answer, I’m reminded of the following scripture;

Though the fig tree does not bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls, yet I will exult in the LORD;

I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

GOD the Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer (confident);

He makes me walk upon the heights (in triumph & security)!” Habakkuk 3:17-19 BSB

In other words when there seems to be no visible signs of an answer to our prayers & everything seems to be going from bad to worse, faith tells us that God is still working & we need to wait for His outcome, not the one we think should happen right now!

We’re also told above to rejoice in the Lord of our Salvation for He will bring triumph in His perfect timing. For it is He who gives us the strength to express that confidence to walk securely, in the knowledge that indeed He is working & will answer prayer as He is the God of the impossible.

Thus as we continue to uphold our loved ones in prayer we can certainly rejoice that He is our God & Saviour, at the same time we can praise Him for the answer that will certainly come. We just need to continue to trust Him;

Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart.

And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.”  Proverbs 3: 5 AMP

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. Jennifer, this is a wonderful post with a great message. I honestly need to remind myself quite often that God has everything under control, and I just need to let things be. I do find that I let my fear and at times anxiety get the best of me.

  2. Yes I have seen those times when my own faith came under attack right after encouraging another to keep trusting! Thank you for the good reminders to keep placing our trust in the Lord and in His faithful promises. I love the Habbukuk passage. Surely we need to cling to Him there all the more in these days that can feel so chaotic

    Blessings and hugs dear friend!

    1. Blessings & hugs to you too sweet friend.
      It’s a pleasure to share Bettie 😊. I agree we are living in times that are unprecedented. I’m glad we know the Lord & know that He is working even in the chaos.

    Hi Jennifer,

    The other day I saw a video on Facebook that perfectly illustrates the way we can have confidence in God. It was 3 deer on a cliff edge. They had placed themselves just out of reach of a pack of wild dogs. The dogs tried and tried to reach them, but they couldn’t do it without risking falling off the cliff. The deer stood still, not even looking at the dogs, knowing they were safe, and they just had to wait until their enemy went away. There could be a few applicable Bible verses, the one from Habukuk which you quoted, and Eph 6:13,14; Gal 5:1; James 5:8; 2 Thess 2:15 and my favourite, 1 Cor 15:58.

    Lots of love, Margaret.

  4. Jennifer, I find as I am getting older that I can be easily sidetracked by fear. “Have you noticed that when we encourage other’s in their faith, that often our faith comes under attack?” I have found this to be true. Thank you for always pointing us to God’s Word! His Word is our strength!

    Blessings my friend,
    Pam
