Curious & curiouser!

Welcome my friend! I’m so glad you’re here for our time together.

Grab yourself a cuppa, pull up a chair & get comfy.

At the moment I’m having a real problem with dust! Yes dust!

Not just any dust mind but powdery all pervading dust!

I noticed it last week when I went out to my car & it was covered in a thick layer of dust!

Hubby & I wondered where it had come from because it’s a very wet winter here on the East coast of Australia.

So there shouldn’t be any dust!

We finally realised it was coming off the trucks laden with dirt going past our home from the roadworks up the road.

The problem with dust

Have you noticed that it doesn’t matter how many times you dust, it always returns, at times literally overnight!

As I was dusting yesterday the thought came to me how dust & worries have something in common!

How?

Well, as it’s Winter here we have most of the windows secured against the cold.

And yet the dust from outside still has a way of creeping in!

Worries have a tendency to do the same, we think we have them all ‘done & dusted‘ & the windows of our hearts secured against those dust bunnies of anxiety.

Having given them to the Lord as in Philippians 4: 6;

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

But then we find that just like dust, worries start to creep in, it may be a concern over a loved one or a life situation.

At first it begins with just a very light dust of concern, then if left unchecked it becomes more troublesome just like layers of dust!

Let’s make this personal…

The other morning I woke in the early hours of the morning & for the life of me I couldn’t get back to sleep!

Then I noticed I was feeling rather anxious (which is unusual for me) for several loved ones & their well-being.

So I went to prayer, while this helped enormously it didn’t completely alleviate the feeling of anxiety I was experiencing.

I then realised a rise in cortisol levels had also occurred.

I explained what this is & how we can recognise it in;

What to do when Anxiety hits

So I got out of bed having committed my concerns to the Lord in prayer & made myself a cuppa!

And the feeling of anxiety lifted!

As with the action of dusting, we can recognise spiritually & physically what practical steps need to be taken when worries & anxieties hit.

Until next time,

Jennifer

    We are in the midst of a huge drought so we have lots of dust… it doesn’t help that my husband and son work in the sand and gravel business and come home covered each day. I also seem to find worries creeping in; usually in the middle of the night! But yes, prayer helps.

    1. Oh wow! I didn’t realise you guys are in the middle of a drought there!
      That is so difficult we had a very severe drought a few years ago with level two water restrictions.
      Then the heavens opened & the rain hasn’t stopped!
      It seems this world is in pendulous weather extremes!
      Lovely having you drop by today ☺️
