“The World’s gone Mad!”

This was my late husband’s statement while listening to the news report of 9/11 as we prepared breakfast that morning back in 2001.

And that statement has never left me, every time I hear of a world changing event, one that makes no sense whatsoever, I’m instantly transported back to that morning.

And in turn I’ve also said that statement to my hubby Steve, several times, in the last few decades!

Today, I thought we would explore what we can do when the world seems to have gone mad.

But first let’s grab a cuppa, a treat & get comfy. I’ve been enjoying some little gf health Bites lately, a gift from my hubby for Easter. Although covered in dark chocolate I’m not sure how healthy they are, but they’re delicious with a cuppa none the less!

Now we’re comfy let’s continue…

Have you ever played a game of Chess?

My uncle Don, my father’s brother, who had great patience, taught me to play when I was a child. I haven’t played in many years but know it well.

It’s a game where the primary objective is to attack & capture (Checkmate) your opponent’s King, which means placing the King (Kingdom) under attack to the point where the King cannot escape capture.

To reach checkmate, the players strategize against each other aiming to control the center, and create tactical advantages, to get the opponent to concede defeat when they see an inevitable checkmate.

This is achieved by systematically controlling the board, capturing enemy pieces from the line of defence, and trapping the King.

A Powerful Political Game of Chess is being played out before us today!

Having been an avid student of World War II since entering undergraduate & then post graduate studies in Human Behaviour. History has documented very disturbing Human Behaviours, behaviours that lead to a very dangerous & deadly political game of Chess (Power) during that period.

Resulting in the torture & death of millions of lives. And the systematic & near annihilation of a whole people group, the Jewish people.

Alarmingly, I’m observing the same political game of Power being set up today which is most concerning!

The world leaders with their political postering, concerning behaviour & actions at the moment have me, an experienced Clinical professional in Human Behaviour, gravely concerned.

Leading me to question the state of minds & the hidden agendas of the major players in this game of Power (Chess).

But let’s see what God’s Word has to say, for God is the Ultimate Authority;

These six things the Lord God hates;
Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him:
A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that creates wicked plans,
Feet that run swiftly to evil,
A false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths],
And one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.” Proverbs 6: 16-19 AMP

So what can We do?

Well my friend we have a voice, so our first go to is to God through prayer;

For it says in God’s Word;

“…The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous believer is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” James 5:16 AMP

And next is to use our voice in a way that voices our concerns to those in powerful positions that can influence & over turn injustices.

Just like a very brave & courageous man called Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was a Pastor & Theologian living in Germany at the time Hitler rose to power in Europe. Bonhoeffer loudly spoke out against the atrocities that he was witnessing.

As a result he was forbidden to speak which forced him to go underground but he continued to teach God’s Word to Seminary students until his imprisonment in 1943.

Even while imprisoned he continued to preach & teach God’s Word until he was murdered in a concentration camp a month before the war ended. He was noted as saying when being killed;

“This is the end – for me the beginning of life.” *

May we have God’s wisdom, boldness & courage to speak out when we see injustices taking place in this world my friend for;

“Blessed [comforted by inner peace and God’s love] are those who are persecuted for doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever]. Matthew 5:10 AMP

Until next time,

Jennifer
