Sunsets on 2019

Hi, did you have a blessed Christmas my friend? After sharing my thoughts in Winds of Apprehension…

I came to a decision on the day…to divide our time between the waterfront & our home, so we had our family Christmas Eve picnic dinner at the waterfront then we all came back & had dessert at our home for gift exchange. It worked perfectly!

The Dawn of a new era

As the dawn of a new year approaches, I have been reviewing the sun setting on the year that was…I find this a healthy practice both mentally & spiritually, as it helps us to come to terms with the events throughout the year. Rejoicing in the blessings while processing the difficult times.

2019 has been an interesting year for hubby & I…it has had many unexpected twists & turns.

So before we have our time of reflection, let’s grab our hot cuppas for that well earned rest after the craziness of the Christmas season.

I’m sipping a cup of Chai tea, with a homemade Apple & cinnamon hazelnut muffin as my treat. I have settled in my comfy armchair with my feet up, as it’s cooler here today!

I know, I know! Who would have thought! After days of extreme heat we have some abnormally cold weather in our Aussie Summer! Crazy!

This year was the first year I have purposefully taken a word for the year…which was Grace.

When I noticed this word being highlighted for this year I knew it was going to be exciting & challenging as grace is for giving as well as receiving, for…

“Grace…is the gift of God. “

Ephesians 2:8

Grace wisdom gleaned in 2019;

Earlier this year grace was displayed in a most unexpected way in an emergency in Grace in the unexpected…

Then following hot in its heels I was given the opportunity to chose to pass grace along in Ouch! That hurt! Emotional pain…

In a twist I was challenged in How to Earn money while you Sleep! This highlighted both grace in its timing & the need for grace to oneself in self care.

Then as we rounded a bend in the journey, relationships came into focus where grace was needed in the Language of relationships…

Another area that we don’t often relate to as having grace, was posted in Lots Of Laughter! Which holds amazing healing benefits for us.

I noticed that Grace has been present in so many areas of my life that I hadn’t necessarily related to as having grace or for an opportunity to exhibit grace…as in self care.

I so loved the journey of taking a word & focusing upon the relationship it has for one’s life…that I’m going to continue this practice! A few words have come to my notice for 2020.

Though one in particular seems to stand out from the rest & that’s…Release…I’m excited what this coming year may hold, so stayed tuned

May you have a blessed New Year my friend! Do you have a word for 2020? Please share…

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. New Year’s blessings to you, Jennifer! So grateful that we’ve been able to rub shoulders here and there in recent months. Looking forward to what God has for us in the days ahead ….

  2. I always love to read about how people’s words for the year work out and what they learn. I’ve had a word for each of the last four years and I’ve been surprised by how effective it can be. My word for 2019 was “truth” and I’ll be sharing about my 2020 word on Wednesday. Happy New Year – I hope 2020 is good for you!

  3. Hi Jennifer, Thanks for your post! I will have to catch up on your previous posts mentioned but I love your word idea for the year ahead. For 2019, my word was community, as in building community and it’s been a delight to see how God has opened up opportunities to help bring a sense of community. I’m still praying for my 2020 word! Blessings for you in the new year, Joy

    1. Lovely to have you here Joy! Community is important isn’t it, I love the sense of community that’s can be found in the blogging community too as well as in your local area 😀
It will be exciting to see what your word is…

  4. I really like the idea of choosing a word for the upcoming year. I have chosen “wait.” I have spent my life several steps ahead of God and really want to slow down enough to follow!

  5. Jennifer, I have loved following your grace journey this year and look forward to “release” posts that I know will be inspirational and encouraging. I have never chosen a “word” for the year and I am not quite sure why. Wishing you a Happy 2020!
