Meerkat Fun

Did you know that celebrating children’s birthdays is relatively a recent event in human history!

Welcome dear friend! Today I will be sharing on, you guessed it, some birthday fun our family had recently.

So grab yourself a cuppa, a delicious treat & get comfy for our time together.

I have a cup of Strawberry tea with fresh fruit chips for my treat & am relaxing in my recliner after just returning from a walk around My Neighbourhood.

Which I must admit was a bit of a struggle today with Fibromyalgia flaring but slow & steady won the race slow paced walk, so all is good!

Birthday cakes

It wasn’t until the 1800s that modern birthday cakes with candles for children came into being, introduced by German Bakers.

Previously, birth day celebrations had revolved around various religious & cultural festivals.

In the last few months our family has celebrated 7 birthdays!

I shared the birthday adventure I had with my second born daughter in Tea on the Gold Coast.

Today I would like to share the fun we had for my granddaughter’s recent birthday. You met her in Little Miss L.

Her Mama, my youngest daughter, had organized a little party for Miss L with some of her school friends held at the Zoo for a fun birthday time.

We had such fun watching & waving to the Meerkats which were super cute & tiny!

Then we saw the Lemurs which made a huge sudden racket calling out to each other that gave us all quite a fright!

Then wandering over to the majestic lion’s pen, the camels, alligators, koalas, goats, monkeys, reptiles & the hungry red maned wolves.

With a great deal of beautiful exotic birds from all over the world to gaze upon.

Little Miss L, her friends, siblings & the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

Finishing with yummy treats & little birthday cupcakes with candles for her to blow out & loud birthday cheers to finish off the day.

Then Little Miss L signed to us,

“Thank you for coming to my birthday party.”

Accompanied with a bashful smile that was so adorably precious.

You see our Little Miss L has Apraxia of speech & is non verbal, has severe hearing loss, other disabilities & medical conditions, so every birthday & milestone are extra special.

Blowing out her 9 birthday candles is very exciting for us to see because that’s something she could not do for the first 7 years of her life.

I find the following comforting, Jesus said,

“See that you do not under estimate even one of these little ones,

for I tell you that their personal Angels are always looking upon the face of My Father in Heaven.”

Matthew 18:10

To know that my children & grandchildren have their own Angels with them always, who take their instructions directly from God, is very comforting & encouraging indeed!

And I also love how Jesus expressed His joy & love for all children saying,

“Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them for to such belongs the Kingdom of God.”

Mark 10:14

What a beautiful picture of the Creator God’s love & care for the most vulnerable in our society.

Until next time,

Jennifer

What a delightfully uplifting post in the midst of this COVID-19 crisis. My birthday is coming up soon and I wish I could have some meerkat fun on my special day. Love knowing that our little ones have their own personal angels…so fitting!

It is so very comforting to know our Father loves our kids and grandkids even more than we do! How like Him to have angels assigned to them!

  3. What a wonderful idea! I love having a child’s birthday party at the zoo. Meerkats are one of my favorites too; the meerkat on the photo drew me in. Your precious little granddaughter has her personal angel in heaven for sure! 🙂

What a fun time at the zoo! Happy birthday to Little Miss L, and what a blessing to be able to celebrate with her and see her progress. How interesting about the celebrations evolving just since the 1800s. I love that you shared the scripture Matthew 18:10. Its such a comfort that our little ones have angels that ALWAYS see the face of God. Thanks for sharing this post and for linking up with us at the GATHERING OF FRIENDS LINK PARTY 9

Belated happy birthday to your grand daughter. It sounds like a fun party and one that will be long remembered. I had no idea candles on a cake were so recent.
