One of those weeks!

Hi ya! Welcome to my abode, where a cuppa is always on offer with a wide variety of tea blends & a home baked treat at the ready!

I’m having a peppermint tea today with a dash of honey & a gf blueberry muffin. Grab your favorite cuppa, get comfy & join me in a time of reflection.

I’m having one of those weeks, you know those weeks where everything seems not to go to plan. Where it doesn’t matter what you do or how hard you try, it just doesn’t go the way you thought it would!

I know you know what I’m talking about, as everyone has them right! Although I don’t have them very often… It seems this week in particular I’m making up for it!

My week shared…

  • First, our large metal & timber side gate that spans our driveway was ripped off its large metal hinges by a very strong gust of wind!
  • Then…my car broke down on our way home from my grandson’s birthday!
  • Then…I had to stop all pain medication for the chronic pain I have with Fibromyalgia. As the analgesics have started to affect the lining of my stomach. And having experienced The unexpected emergency with dear hubby, in no way do I want to go through that scenario!
  • Then…We had a very strange event when a wild Tawny Frogmouth fell out of our Jacaranda tree, very sick, so hubby took it to the vet & learned it had a neurological disease & had to be euthanized!

  • Then the following happened…The reflection I had in mind for this week got half written…then no further words came to mind! Nothing! So, I started another reflection, thinking that the first will be for another week, again I got half way &….you guessed it…Nothing! Not a word!

So today we are reflecting upon the week that didn’t quite go to plan…

However this week also contained…

  • Winter sunshine to go for lovely walks around My neighborhood…which helps lower pain levels.
  • The company of my lovely husband, who fixed both the gate & my car.
  • The opportunity to spend time with my second grandson on his 12th birthday.
  • We helped a beautiful creature that would have suffered a long lingering death from starvation.
  • Received exciting updates from my second granddaughter’s mission trip to the Solomon Islands.
  • An update from my eldest globetrotting granddaughter, presently working in Italy.
  • Also received further updates from the Aussie adventures of my eldest daughter & family on their twelve month road trip around our beautiful country.
  • Hubby & I got to see Jupiter & five of its many moons on an astronomical adventure through our telescopes from the comfort of our own backyard which was such fun!
  • And the words for this reflection flowed easily!

I’m reminded of the word I was given for this year, Grace…&…

“We know all things work together for good, for those who love Him & are called according to His purpose…”

Romans 8:28

Yes, it was one of those weeks….that turned out to be more blessed then I first thought as its all about what we focus upon…Isn’t it!

How has your week been my friend? Have you had one of those weeks? Can you see the blessings?

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. We too had “one of those weeks”. I love how you shared the good things from your week too. Such a good reminder to think about all of things we have to be thankful for even in the midst of hard weeks. God is so good, always!

    Love,
    Annie

Jennifer, I loved this post. I loved your word for this year, Grace….I am learning that grace and gratitude guide me in a better direction than dwelling of the bad. Thanks for linking this post to the #GatheringofFriendsLinkParty 5

Happy for the good things that happened for you and your family! Speaking of the bad, your pain meds, were they NSAIDs? I too have fibromyalgia and was recently prescribed Ultram (tramadol) for pain. It is now classified as a narcotic (schedule IV). I don’t take it daily but just when pain is too unbearable and it works!! I wish you luck finding something that helps ease your pain.

    1. Thank you Dee! I am saddened to hear you too have Fibromyalgia & suffer chronic pain.
My pain meds weren’t NSAIDS but I can’t take those either.
I am attempting to be pain medication free in my pain management plan…so far I am…though the pain has markedly increased I am coping at the moment…so stay tuned 😉

Yes, chronic pain is a big time bummer!! Oh I’ll stay tuned Jennifer as I’m interested to know what you’re going to be doing to manage your pain. Good luck!

  4. I clicked on you today from the tell His story link up and my post was about a crazy bad day! Glad to commiserate a little but even more glad that you found the blessings in yours. laurensparks.net

  5. Thank you for visiting my site and inviting me to tea with you, Jennifer. 🙂 I signed up! I’m sorry you had a rough week. And I’m sorry you have Fibromyalgia. It’s sure too bad that some medicines that help us in one area have negative side effects in another area. 😦 I love how you took the difficult things and turned them into blessings. That night sky is breathtaking! Thank you for adding sunshine to my day today! Love and blessings to you!

  6. Yes, in some of the seasons in our lives can seem like that can’t they…but God.
I love looking at the night sky, the other night was particularly clear & with no moonlight at that time we could see the Milky Way quite clearly & Jupiter! 😀

  7. The poor tawny frogmouth! I need to go birding in Australia! I’m glad that God is a God of second chances and new beginnings. No matter how bad things seem, we can take comfort in his faithfulness.

    1. That can be difficult, I remember when my children were young there would be times like that, those weeks seemed never ending…I found keeping my focus on God’s everyday little blessings (like grabbing a cuppa late at night when all were asleep & being able to just sit in peace…was a blissful blessing) & just then plodded on through until a “breather” week came 😉
You’re doing an extraordinary job in your calling as An Ordinary Mom! Bless you!
