What’s Your Focus?

Well hello, how lovely of you to join me. Grab your cuppa & get comfy & reflect with me for awhile.

My choice for our time together is an unusual herbal tea, made from branches of a shrub & bean pods.

This tea has its origins in South Africa

Made from the branches of the native Rooibos shrub, which is apparently a member of the legume family.

To enhance it’s flavor, Vanilla, which essence has been derived from the bean pods of the Vanilla Orchid, originating in Mexico, has been added.

I normally have this at night, being naturally caffeine free I can enjoy it without fear of adding to nocturnal alertness!

It is interesting how two entirely different plants from different locations of the world create such a comforting & soothing blend!

We need comforting & soothing at times, don’t we?

Life can get pretty tough & awfully wearisome even in the best of lives.

Unexpected Visitors

These visitors took up residency without my permission, let me introduce you to them; Fibromyalgia,  Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis & Celiac disease.

These residents do not create a harmonious blend for this hostess, they are rather demanding!

Although, I’m determined to rise to the daily challenge of their demands!

I’m learning to work within my new limitations, as shared in Knowing your body’s capacity, aiming to live my best life but weariness still comes.

This can become a negative experience if I allow it to…

I can either focus on the daily pain, fatigue, brain fog & weariness or I can focus on the positives in my life.

Those being the joys that I can still experience; the love I have in my life & the beautiful area I live in.

With everything I love in God’s natural environment.

The delight & time I now have to experience the little but meaningful things to me, such as a comforting cup of tea & tasty treat with you my friend.

The choice is ours you see, we can either focus on the negatives in our life or identify the positives & focus upon those!

What positive aspects can you focus upon in your life today?

Until next time,

Jennifer

  1. What a lovely post. I am so sorry to hear of your suffering. What a great attitude! I tested with a weak positive for Celiac Disease about a year ago. I do not feel anything from eating gluten, but my doctor suggests I don’t eat it, so for the most part I don’t. My heart goes out to anyone who has to seriously restrict gluten intake. It is almost impossible. I am grateful to God for my health, and pray I have the attitude that you do, no matter what comes my way. Blessings 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you Lisa, I am totally gluten & lactose free too. I changed all my favorite recipes to gluten & lactose free ingredients with a little experimentation some actually taste better!
Yes, though you may not feel anything the damage to your inner is still happening if gluten is ingested, so you are very wise to avoid gluten 😉

  2. Your posts are so tranquil and supportive Jennifer, one would never suspect the daily health struggles you cope with and manage so well. You are a great role model, leading by example. I look forward to learning more as we journey forward!

    1. Being soothed & comforted is always a joyous time… a time to stop & reflect…which is always a wise move…

You are most welcome, I am glad you dropped by & shared in a cup of inspiration with me!
      Jennifer

  3. Rooibus tea is one of my favorites! On many evenings you will find me drinking either a cup of rooibus or a cup of licorice tea.

Thank you for sharing about your health struggles and the positive things you find on your journey.

Positive things in my life right now include: God’s Word that sustains me daily, a loving husband and children who are so helpful and caring, crochet projects, good books, a friend to visit me in my home, those who pray for me, and a soft bed.

    1. How lovely that you dropped by…I haven’t tried Licorice tea yet but it sounds very tempting!
Isn’t it amazing the treasures we discover when we reflect awhile.
Thankyou for sharing your treasures with us Rachel, they are very precious ones.

  4. Jennifer, vanilla rooibos tea has been one of my long-time favorites, encountered with delight whilst working in Africa & now imbibed even more often to lessen daily caffeine intake. So hard reducing fav black teas! But now thoroughly enjoy green teas & herbals of all varieties. What a blessing to find a kindred tea-drinking spirit. Thank you for your inspiring words of encouragement!! ✨🌟☕️🌟✨

    1. Thankyou Virginia, so glad you were inspired & encouaged…how exciting to have worked in South Africa!
Tea is such a soothing experience isn’t it 🙂
So glad you dropped by I have enjoyed our time together, looking forward to our next “cuppa” time as we say here in Australia.

  5. This is one of my favourite teas and I agree it is soothing and comforting. I am always impressed with anyone who can turn a negative into a positive. It can be so easy to dwell in negativity and I´m sure your unwelcome guests would just love that. I find being grateful every day for even the smallest things helps. I once read that if you were thankful for three things every morning, the rest of the day goes so much better. It works for me. I am thankful I found your lovely blog.

  6. nursingsister

    Lovely encouragement. Thanks for sharing..
I also take my ‘Rooibos tea with vanilla’ at night. Mine is a sweet treat after dinner. I have a splash of almond milk and teaspoon of honey.
As i sit here sick with shingles i am very thankful for living in a country where I could access antiviral medications quick. I look forward to the illness being over soon.. I’m also grateful for calamine lotion!!

    1. I am very sad to hear that you are experiencing shingles nursingsister, a painful condition!

Thankyou for sharing your discoveries of a positive focus on your treatment availability & ultimate healing..
I am glad that you too enjoy a lovely cup of Vanilla Rooibos tea at night. I haven’t tried Almond milk & honey yet. It sounds delicious though!
